Silent Hill Homecoming Patch Steam

Patch
  1. Silent Hill Homecoming Unknown Project

Maybe it's a bad omen, a sign that I really shouldn't have gotten this game. But, the PC port they made for this game is just plain horrible.probably as bad as GTA 4. When I first got it, there were sound issues.sound issues that would lock up and crash the game, mind you (during the intro movie, no less).after a bunch of digging, I found out it wasn't my Sound Blaster Audigy (like you'd assume), it was because of my CPU! It's a single-core. Nevermind I can play Fallout 3 almost maxed out with smooth framerates.Anyways, some wonderful Eastern European fellows did Double Helix's job and released some fan-made patches for the game that solve some of these issues.

Made the game run silky smooth, all the way to where you run into your first nurse and it goes to the other world. Now there's black textures on the monsters and some of the walls. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem? I got a GeForce 8600 GT 512MB.Also, anyone else have other problems?

Silent Hill Homecoming Unknown Project

If so, I'll post the link to that patch, if it's one of the common issues, good chance it'll fix it. But, you may end up with random black textures like me.By the way, is the game even worth all this trouble to get running? I wasn't even going to bother till recently. At least I know for sure that Akira Yamaoka guy did a great job. He's getting better and better at general ambient sound effects.his music's always been generally fucked up and really good.Anyways, thanks for any help.

Hey, this may fix your problem.but.may. introduce the black textures. It's a fan-made patch that fixes some common bugs.it fixed my sound problem (it'd lock up two seconds into the intro.turn audio acceleration off, then it'd freeze for a little every 30 seconds or so during gameplay.)The black textures, if you get them, should be fixed in an upcoming patch.

That ENBSeries site is pretty cool, they also have patches for older games that improve the visuals.add different shaders for GTA: SA, Resident Evil 4, etc.I guess Double Helix doesn't give a fuck, these problems are well known, have been for a long time. Of course, a few guys from Russia are doing the jobs they should be doing. I don't know why I'm impatient, I know the game's gonna be a huge letdown after all this waiting. Unfortunately, unfinished PC style gaming is spreading into console gaming, I can't beleive the amoung of bugs that has cropped up in games this gen.I know the answer to this and why there are so many truly bad games marketed as great games.- MoneyThe last ten years games grew out of 'a few guy's in you neighborhood playing'.When more and more people started playing and girls wasn't opposing games, instead started to play as much as the guys, the whole industry multiplied their income so much that it's now bigger then the music and movie industry put together. There's ALOT of money to be gained and this is why games are so shallow and filled with bugs today.A bug, an error etc. Is accepted because it can be patched.

When the industry realized that every complain could be fixed with the magic of a 'patch' they knew that they didn't need to playtest the games and be late in releasing it. Now they could set a date that's months before the game would be considered complete in the old times. To be honest I have stopped playing games. Well, I do play, but it's rare.

There hasn't been games of much interest to me, even innovative games like mirror's edge would appeal to me but with a story so copied from everything else I just feel that I don't need another one. What's even worse is that reviewers give todays games good reviews.I will be crucified for this but the treatment the entire Halo serie has gotten really makes me vomit. The first game had one good thing and that was that it's concept was inspired by the book 'Rendezvous With Rama' and it had a nice feeling of 'where the hell did this come from'.But then it became a repetative mess of copied maps with something out of Mario cart running around sounding the same. And they continued with this shit throughout.

I have never understood the fandom around this game and I've NEVER understood the blind love reviewers gave it. It was the franchise that really got me to look upon the reviewers and face the fact that these people do either what everyone else does or as the distributors want. There's only one reviewer that I really like and it's both because of his great humor but also because he seems to be the only one with his brain in the right freakin place. The game industry has become a nasty piece of shit with quality at the same level. Yeah, the Silent Hill series pretty much ruined games for me. I still haven't started Homecoming even tho I fixed it, because you see 10 page discussions in the SH 2 and 4 sections about different interpretations and all the subtle nuances that are in the older games. On the Homecoming section, you don't see that.Art doesn't really exist anymore. At least not in the mainstream. Hell, we don't even have real culture over here anymore, thanks to 'progressive' globalism and the commercialization of.well.everything.

Capitalism is just as cold and soulless as Communism. Both are anti-Nature and extremely materialistic. Everyone's out to make a buck at all costs, which stifles true art. You know, art for creativity's sake. We're surrounded by the results of this every single day.I agree with you on Fallout 3.I've been playing the Fallout series since the first came out years and years ago. Great writing in the first two.I REALLY wish Fallout 3 had some of those writers. It's a great game, don't get me wrong, it just would've been almost perfect if it had same writing style and dark humor the first two had.

If you can find it, you should try Planescape: Torment. It's another Black Isle game, one of the best stories I've ever seen. Fallout 3 is really good, I've been playing Fallout games since the first two came out. Fallout 2 is prolly one of the best games ever made. I was REALLY nervous the new developers would fuck the franchise up, turn it into Oblivion/Morrowind with guns, but they did a really good job. At times, you can tell they tried (but failed) to copy the fucked up sense of humor in the first two games, but other than the writing, Fallout 3 is great. And, I'm glad I can say I like Homecoming, too. It doesn't really live up to the other Silent Hill games as far as writing and story, but it's a VERY tense game that's actually pretty fun.

The music is as good as it ever was, too. And, I'm glad I can say I like Homecoming, too. It doesn't really live up to the other Silent Hill games as far as writing and story, but it's a VERY tense game that's actually pretty fun. The music is as good as it ever was, too.Yea which is the main problem about this game that I can't comprehend.

Even though this is good Silent Hill game, it has got it all: music, story, surprising plot twist, it is not good enough to measure with older games/being placed on the same shelf with older games. I've noticed many fans feel like that.

So really what is the problem with this game?? I personaly believe this game is fan fiction, a good one, like the No Escape fan made movie. Okay, I fixed it.

If anyone else is getting black textures, you don't have to wait for the next ENB patch. In the.ini file that comes with the newest patch, change these values:PixelShaderLimit=500Change to 750ForceAffinityMask=0Change to 1Here's hoping the game doesn't suck! That helped me out a little. I don't get this annoying blank template texture thing now. There's still a lot of shit that needs to be worked out though. I keep tweaking a little with the patch here and there to see if I notice a difference. As of now I'm only up to spoilerthe cemetery area/spoilerand I've basically missed all the cutscenes, because of how weird/bad the game runs.I don't understand why the in game cutscenes are so shitty, since the intro screen and intro cutscene run perfectly.

Homecoming

I've had almost a million bug so far. I'm a new player in the series, and I started to regret it.Anyways, I downloaded a patch that solved my freezing problems.

Bue there are still black textures & no sound at the cutscenes during the game. I got through those irritating bugs, but suddenly the game stopped running and my computer decided ( in the middle of my playing ) that my video card's not suitable!! I am confused how could it be not suitable if I played for a week?! Any help please?
