Save File Not Found R4 Sdhc

Hi there, I've ran into a nasty little problem after formatting my memory card. Namely, no save files can be found. I'm sorry in advance in case I miss out on mentioning some details, I really try to get everything into this post.General infoI use an R4i-SDHC Revolution (I'm aware of the fact that it's a clone of the original R4. My memory card is a Sandisk 4GB. Version 1.09b. Everything was bought this summer. I haven't used up even half of the available space, so there's plenty of room for save files and the like.

Last week I bought a new USB reader for the memory card, since the old one suddenly stopped working. My NDS Lite was bought in Europe, which I don't think matters but who knows?Reason for formattingEach time I tried to load the main menu of the R4i, I got stuck at the loading screen and it took me six or seven resets (and taking the card and memory card out and putting it back again) to get it to work. Also, half of my saved games suddenly became corrupted for the fifth time around. I searched the web and found out that the saved games problem could be solved by formatting. So I copied everything on the memory card to my computer and formatted it, then put everything back again.

Since some save files were 'corrupted' before the formatting, I replaced them with older, working save files I had backed up (since I learned my lesson the first time). The resultThe main menu loads perfectly fine now, no resetting necessary. There's a new save file problem: when loading a game, I get the 'Savfile not founded' message and have to reset everything. Yes, it says 'founded', not 'found'. This occurs to every single game.Possible solutions that didn't workI formatted it once more, the same way as before, and put everything back again.I replaced the.sav files with even earlier backed up saves kept on my computer.I tried changing the file names so that they didn't contain any empty spaces, and checked that the save files were named.sav and not.SAV.I used DS Organize and checked the files there.

It says that every.sav-file has File Type: Unknown Format. I think that's just as it should be, but I mention it in case it could be a hint.I did not try using an older version (currently it's 1.09b), simply because I couldn't find anywhere to download it.Lastly, since English isn't my mother language I might have missed out on some possible solutions due to the language barrier. Thanks in advance! This post has been edited by malryl, Tue, November 3rd, 2009 at 11:22. Thanks, I tried what you said and now it works again!Though I've got two more questions now.Four or five times now, every game rhyming on Final Fantasy suddenly deletes their respective saves themselves - at the same time too.

I can replace them with older saves, but even though I have a working back-up copy I still can't do anything but choose New Game. Is this a common problem or have I done something to offend the memory card?I'm also back at square one when it comes to getting to the main menu of the R4i.

It keeps freezing on the loading screen until I've reset the console five or six times. Could it be that the memory card is all right, but the R4i is getting old already? I haven't over-used it that much. This post has been edited by malryl, Wed, November 4th, 2009 at 09:52. You are welcome. What do you mean by 'rhyming on Final Fantasy'?

I don't know if that is a common problem (I don't know that cart). Do you have another memory card to test? Also, what did you use to format the card? This is the most recommended formatter:Probably, contact issues. If you can open the cart, rub the contacts with a white common eraser.

If you can not open it, use cotton or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol. I don't know which is better, I used the eraser and, surprisingly, it worked like a charm. This post has been edited by logical thinker, Thu, November 5th, 2009 at 13:17. Short version: Four specific games that I've played can suddenly erase their respective saves at the same time, and I can't replace the.sav files with another working file because the games treat the files as if there aren't any saves on those either.Long version: The Final Fantasy game I've tried (FFIV, FFTA2, FFXII:RW), and Mario & Luigi: PiT (I guess it joined the mob because it felt lonely), can suddenly erase their respective saves at the same time. I replace them with older.sav files, but the main menu of the games are still set as if there are no saved games, thus I can only choose New Game. This only happens when I remove the memory card from the R4i and then put it back again until the R4i actually loads the main menu and doesn't freeze on the loading screen.

Which leads me to suspect the R4i, but it could be the card too.Sadly I don't have any other memory card, but I'm considering getting one in the near future to check if the problems are card related.Yup, that's the formatter I used!Well, I'm afraid I wouldn't dare to open the cart since I'm not very skilled in that area (read as: hopeless). But if there's nothing else to do I guess I'll give it a go - later, when I've gathered enough courage to try! This post has been edited by malryl, Thu, November 5th, 2009 at 09:43.
