User never had issues with licensing until the hard drive failed. She's had the pc for a few years, so the license had to be valid at one point. Since W 7 Ultimate doesn't have downgrade rights, I can't buy a W 8 or 10 license.

I tried the OEM key I found on Jelly bean and it doesn't work. Microsoft says the OEM has blocked the key and I need to speak to them to unlock, so it could have been a spammed key. Still.need to find a workaround for user without taking machine down to wipe and reload with a fresh OS again if possible. E wrote:User never had issues with licensing until the hard drive failed.

I wish I could say I hadn't seen this kind of thing before, but I have. Small shop, buys one license, uses it on 5 machines.

They charge full price for all 5, making pure profit on 4 of them.5 activations is generally not an issue for one license, as MS knows people reinstall stuff. So it either never gets caught, or it doesn't get caught for several years, after several people have had to reinstall.I could be wrong of course.

I was reading it as to say I couldn't downgrade to what I had installed (Ultimate).

I'm fine if she downgrades to Pro if it will work without having to do any sort of wipe/reload of the computer. E wrote:E wrote:Can't believe it's this hard to find this license.
